Harvest Hands Discussion
Ascension and St. Mark’s Anglican Churches invite you to join in the discussion Harvest Hands. HARVEST HANDS is a non-profit food distribution centre dedicated to “rescuing food from bakers to retailers to help agencies and thousands of families throughout Southwestern Ontario. Funded entirely by donations and volunteer-driven, Harvest Hands provides food to over 200 organizations, agencies, and missions, who in turn, feed over 60,000 meals per month. Individuals and families seeking food assistance. If you are involved with any type of food security ministry, you will want to attend this presentation on February 29, 2024, 7 to 9 PM at Church of the Ascension, 2060 Dundas Street East, London.

Annual Vestry Meeting
Ascension’s annual vestry meeting (similar to an annual general meeting) will be held on Sunday, Feb. 18, following the 10:00 church service. Please note that there will be only one service that day, so that those who attend the early service can take part in the meeting.
The Archdeacon of London has asked that members of the executive team and Parish Council retain their positions for the coming year, to provide continuity in this time of clergy transition. While most members are remaining, there are available openings on Parish Council. If you would like to nominate someone, or volunteer yourself, please speak to a warden or contact the office.

Christmas Carol Sing-Along
Simply Classic will lead a Christmas Carol sing-along on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Ascension. It’s a free event, but everyone is asked to bring a plate of cookies to share with everyone who attends.

Farewell to Rev. June
We bid farewell to Rev. Canon June Hough on her retirement on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023. There will be only one church service that day, at 10 a.m. That will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
Rev. Jim Garey, our honorary assistant, will be the interim minister at Ascension until a longer-term interim is appointed by the Bishop of the Diocese of Huron in the new year. All programs and ministries of the church will continue as usual.

Christmas Share 2023
It’s time for the annual collection for Christmas Share. Each year, St. Paul’s Social Services at the Cathedral distributes retail and grocery gift cards to those struggling financially so they can have the dignity of making their own choices of what they would like for Christmas. Please donate by Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, to this collection through your regular offering envelopes (mark “Christmas Share” on the Special Offering line) or by e-transfer to office@ascensionlondon.com. Please do not purchase the gift cards yourself. The staff at St. Paul’s Social Services do that through a bulk purchase from retailers they know are favoured by recipients. Thank you.

Christmas Choir
The Christmas Choir begins rehearsals on Sunday, Nov. 5, after the 10 a.m. service. While Ascension does not have a regular choir that sings each week, a large number of church members like to get together at Christmas and Easter for a special choir. Join music director Alex Baerg and your friends to get ready for the Christmas services.
