Church of the Ascension offers several opportunities for parishioners and members of the community at large to advance their knowledge.
Bible Study
A Bible Study takes place every Wednesday morning following the 9:30 am worship service, except during the months of July and August. All are welcome to attend.
Book Club
The group meets on the first Tuesday afternoon of each month, rotating among members’ homes, to discuss a new book (or occasionally a movie) each month, share laughs and have a snack.
Library
Books and tapes of adult Christian material (fiction and non-fiction) are shelved in the Multipurpose Room.
Ministry to Children & Youth
Sunday School and the Co-op Nursery start following the Children’s Focus during the 10:00 am service. Children from birth to age 17 are welcome to attend classes in the parish hall. The Nursery is located on the left once you enter the hall (parents are required to be helpers on a rotating schedule). Regular classes start in September and end in June. The Ministry to Children & Youth sometimes runs a week-long summer program for kids each year, open to the youth and children from Ascension and the community. See the Ministry to Children & Youth page.
Sewing Class
An eight-week session to teach basic sewing skills. Runs from September through May. Child care is provided. See the Sewing Class page.
Special Educational Series
Special educational series may be held occasionally throughout the year especially during Lent or Advent seasons. These series may involve Bible or book studies, courses regarding aspects of church life and more. Information will be in the Sunday bulletin prior to any series start.
Theology Student Placements & Support Groups
Ascension often hosts theological students to assist them in their training to become a member of clergy. Parish members are chosen to become members of Support Groups for the students while they are at Ascension.
